October begins in Libra territory, with questions about balance, relationships and what helps us feel steady. Then the Sun moves into Scorpio on the 23rd, and the conversation gets a little deeper.
In medical astrology, Scorpio is associated with the reproductive system, elimination and regeneration. It asks us to look beneath the obvious: at patterns we keep repeating, feelings we’ve pushed aside and the support we might need to recover well.
There’s quite a bit of looking back this month, too. Venus turns retrograde on 3 October, Mercury follows on the 24th, and Pluto turns direct in between. I don’t see these as reasons to put life on hold! They can be useful invitations to revisit what we’ve learnt and notice what’s ready for a different approach.
This month, ask yourself:
What have I been managing on the surface that might need a little more attention underneath?
October 2026 Astrological Dates
3 October – Venus Retrograde
A chance to revisit relationships, pleasure, values and the ways we give and receive support. Where has keeping the peace come at a cost to your own wellbeing?
3 October – Last Quarter Moon
A moment to clear space before the next lunar cycle. Notice which commitments or habits are taking more energy than they give back.
10 October – New Moon in Libra
An opportunity to begin again with balance. Think about the rhythms, boundaries and relationships that help you feel more at ease.
15 October – Pluto Direct
Themes of change and renewal may start to feel less internal. You don’t need every answer at once; noticing what has shifted is a good place to start.
18 October – First Quarter Moon
Time to act on an intention from the New Moon. One small adjustment you can actually keep is plenty.
23 October – Sun enters Scorpio
Scorpio season brings reproduction, elimination, resilience and regeneration into focus, along with the emotional patterns that can sit beneath our health experiences.
23 October – Juno enters Aquarius
Partnerships may benefit from a little more room for individuality. What does mutual support look like when everyone gets to be themselves?
24 October – Mercury Retrograde
Slow down and review the details. It’s a useful period for revisiting conversations, research or plans that need another look.
25 October – Venus Retrograde enters Libra
Relationship themes return to Libra’s territory of fairness and balance. Where could a clearer boundary make connection feel easier?
26 October – Full Moon in Taurus
A reminder to return to the body and the basics: food, rest, comfort and a pace you can sustain.
Medical Astrology Focus: Scorpio and Regeneration
Libra asks, “Where is the balance?”
Scorpio asks, “What’s happening beneath it?”
Scorpio is traditionally linked with the reproductive organs, elimination and the body’s capacity to regenerate. Its rulers, Mars and Pluto, add questions about energy, crisis, change and recovery. In a chart, these symbols can help us explore a health story more fully, including the experiences and patterns surrounding it.
That doesn’t mean every Scorpio placement points to a health problem. Medical astrology is much more interesting, and more useful, than reducing one sign to one symptom.
What I find fascinating about Scorpio is its interest in what happens after a difficult period. What helped? What depleted us? What needs to change so recovery has room to happen?
October Health Themes
1. Balance can reveal what needs attention
The New Moon in Libra gives us a chance to look at our daily rhythms and relationships. Sometimes a lack of balance is a clue that something deeper needs care, time or a more honest conversation.
2. Review before adding more
With Venus and Mercury retrograde this month, there’s value in revisiting what’s already in front of you. A routine, an agreement or a plan may need adjusting. You don’t have to start from scratch every time something stops working.
3. Recovery needs space
Scorpio’s theme of regeneration reminds us that recovery has a rhythm of its own. Rest, nourishment and support matter just as much as the moment we decide to make a change.
Keep it simple this month:
- Make space for regular meals and rest, especially when life gets busy.
- Notice which conversations leave you feeling clearer and which ones need better boundaries.
- Revisit one health habit that used to help, and see whether it still fits your life.
- Give yourself time to process an experience before rushing to “move on”.
- Ask for support when something feels bigger than you can sort through alone.
Bach Flower Remedies for Scorpio
Supporting trust, emotional honesty and letting go.
Scorpio can feel things deeply, even when very little shows on the surface. Its gifts include loyalty, insight and the ability to stay with difficult experiences. When things feel less balanced, that intensity can turn into suspicion, holding on too tightly or finding it hard to let someone in.
Chicory is traditionally associated with Scorpio. It’s worth considering when care for someone has become tangled up with fear of losing them, or when you notice yourself wanting reassurance but struggling to ask for it.
Other remedies to explore according to what you’re experiencing include:
- Holly – for jealousy, suspicion or resentment that feels difficult to shake.
- Willow – when disappointment has hardened into bitterness and it’s hard to move forward.
- Star of Bethlehem – for emotional shock or an experience that still feels tender.
- Crab Apple – when you’re being especially hard on yourself or struggling with feelings of shame.
You don’t need every remedy on the list. Start with the feeling that’s most present for you, and get curious about what’s underneath it.

Sunday 25 October, 8–10 am AEDT/Sydney
Saturday 24 October, 5–7 pm EDT / 2–4 pm PDT
Later in the month, we’ll take October’s Scorpio themes into the chart in my next Zodiac of Health lecture where we’ll be taking a deep-dive into Scorpio’s links with reproduction, elimination and regeneration; Mars and Pluto as its rulers; and the 8th House through health challenges, psychological patterns and recovery. As always, we’ll bring it back to practical interpretation and support.

November Lecture: The 7 Planetary Days and Their Rulerships
Sunday 8 November, 8–10 am AEDT/Sydney
Saturday 7 November, 4–6 pm EST / 1–3 pm PST
Recording and slides included
In this new lecture, I’ll take you through all seven planetary days and explore what their traditional rulers can tell us about the body, health and the way we structure our week. We’ll look at each planet’s connections with organs, systems and different types of energy, then bring those ideas into daily life through food, herbs, movement and simple self-care practices. It’s a fun way to deepen your understanding of planetary rulerships as an astrologer — and perhaps find a little fresh inspiration for your own routines along the way.

An October Reflection
There’s a difference between finding a quick fix and understanding what’s really going on. October invites us to get curious about that difference, gently.
What helps me feel steady?
Where do I need a clearer boundary?
What am I ready to revisit with fresh eyes?
What would give me more room to recover?
Take what’s useful, leave what isn’t, and I’ll see some of you in class this month.
