Being Well in the 6th House

In this episode, I had the pleasure of diving into one of my favourite topics – the astrological sixth house. Too often overlooked, the sixth house is such a powerful place to explore because it brings together health, daily routines, service, and even mythology in ways that shape how we live and care for ourselves.

We touched on the archetype of Artemis, who embodies the sixth house energy with her independence, wisdom, and deep connection to healing. I also shared why Mars finds its joy here – reminding us that our health requires consistent effort and discipline, much like Hercules’ twelve labours.

One of the most fascinating parts of the discussion was around the small intestine, ruled by the sixth house. Just as it decides what becomes part of us and what is eliminated, we’re constantly making choices in our daily lives about what supports or undermines our wellbeing. This ties beautifully into modern research on the gut-brain axis – a wonderful confirmation of what ancient astrologers already knew about the mind-body connection.

We also explored the relationship between the sixth and twelfth houses – acute versus chronic health, effort versus rest – and why our pets, too, are part of this story, teaching us about rhythm, responsibility, and care.

If you’re curious about how astrology can guide your wellbeing, or you simply love seeing how mythology, medicine, and astrology intersect, I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation.
